When you workout, your body needs energy and motivation to get started. In the morning have a smoothie 30 to 60 minutes before your workout. Stock up on healthy fats, carbs, and protein. Today I am sharing my top 5 smoothies I have found that are perfect to eat before you get your sweat on.



Oat Banana Berry

Since oats are slow digesting carbs, they’re a great pre-workout smoothie enhancer for lasting energy at the gym. This mix also features kefir, a probiotic-packed drink that may help support immunity and better digestion.

1 cup of frozen banana & raspberry

1 cup of spinach

1/4 rolled oats

1/3 cup of plain kefir

1 tablespoon of almond butter

1/2 cup of coconut water

1/2 cup of water

1 scoop of vanilla whey protein


Trail Mix

This smoothie is the one for lasting energy throughout a long workout. Raisins and honey are good fuel for a cardio session.


1 scoop of chocolate whey protein

1 frozen banana

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon honey

¼ cup of coconut water

10 almonds

1 tablespoon raisins



Tropical Energy 

I love bananas as a pre-workout food for so many reasons! Bananas are packed with tryptophan, which your body converts to serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical the body creates that sends us happy vibes. Throw in the fact that bananas are loaded with carbohydrates that help energize your body.


1/2  cup of coconut water

2 frozen banana

1 cup frozen pineapples

1 cup of frozen kale

1 scoop of vanilla whey protein



Nut butter is quick and easy… just grab a spoonful and you’re on your way. But the best reason to eat nut butter before a workout is because it’s loaded with healthy fats and fiber, which keep you feeling full and energetic throughout your entire workout. My favorite is almond butter.


1/2 cup coconut water

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup of chopped peach

1/2 cup of chopped mango

1 cup of spinach or kale

1 tablespoon of almond butter


Strawberry Mango

If you’re exercising for fat loss, then coconut oil will be an important ingredient for you. The fatty acids in this superfood fight body fat by converting into energy that boosts your metabolism (as opposed to saturated fats that add body fat). Add coconut oil to your green smoothie before your workout to help you maintain energy throughout your entire routine, while also fighting that body fat like crazy.


1/2 cup of frozen mango chunks

6 strawberries

1 cup of frozen kale

1 cup of coconut water

2 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 scoop of vanilla whey protein
